Middle School Math - Assessments
Below are a few assessments I have created for my students to take during my Geometry Unit.
Pre-Assessment
Assessment Plan
Provided in the file below is a link to the assessment plan for the unit. The plan indicates whether the assessment is formal or informal, provides a description of each type of assessment, and then provides a timeline of when each assessment will be completed with the names of the activities and worksheets provided.

Measuring Student Understanding
Students' understanding is measured by how well they complete the final assessment for the unit, (the project). Each student will be assessed based on their shape calculations, write-up, and accountability handout. The group will receive a combined score for their floor plan. The students' ability to show mastery of the objectives will indicate their understanding of the material.
Students will complete assessments throughout the unit to work on their mastery of the objectives. To monitor progress effectively, students will be graded in alignment with the type of assessment. Assessments that are formal will provide students with a grade that is based on completeness and correctness, while the informal assessments will only yield points for completeness since these will be completed while the student is still working to learn the material. Students will check their own mastery of the objectives for the informal assessments by comparing their results with their classmates and the key provided by the teacher. |
